Annual inflation at 1% in April
In April consumer prices increased by 0.5% compared with March and were 1%
higher than a year ago. Average annual deflation declined to 0.1%.
In a month prices decreased mostly due to higher prices of goods, such
as vegetables, clothing and footware, as well as fuel. Annual inflation was mainly caused by more
expensive lottery tickets, clothing, tobacco products, restaurant services and
vegetables. Meanwhile, fuel was 13.2% cheaper than at the same time last year
and thus had a negative effect on annual inflation.
Outlook: consumer price growth will accelerate this year
wages, a hike in the minimum wage and increasing oil prices will push consumer
prices somewhat higher this year. We expect inflation to be at 1.8% this year.
